How Much Should You Tip a Chauffeur? A Simple Guide

Whether you're booking a ride to the airport, a night out or a wedding, one question comes up again and again: how much should you tip your chauffeur? Here's a simple guide to what's customary, and how gratuity works when you ride with For Sure Luxury.

How much is customary?

In the United States, a gratuity of 15% to 20% of the base fare is customary for chauffeured car service, with 20% common for excellent service. For a longer trip or an hourly booking, the same percentage applies to the total base fare.

When you might tip more

• Your chauffeur handled a lot of luggage, sports equipment or extra stops.

• Your flight was very late or your plans changed and your chauffeur adjusted.

• Your chauffeur helped with something extra, like a special request for a celebration.

• The trip involved difficult conditions, such as a snowstorm or heavy event traffic.

Is gratuity included in my quote?

At For Sure Luxury, gratuity is not included in the base price. When you book online, the gratuity is preset to 20%, and you can change it to any amount you like, including zero, before you confirm. That way everything is taken care of before your ride and you never need to carry cash. You can also change the gratuity amount at any time, before or after your service, by emailing us at reservations@forsureluxury.com.

Tipping for weddings, events and groups

For weddings and special events, many clients add the gratuity to the reservation so it's settled ahead of time and no one has to think about it on the day. If you're booking several vehicles, it's easiest to set the gratuity on the reservation for each one.

Gratuity is always optional and based on your experience. Our chauffeurs arrive early, track your flight, handle your luggage and treat every ride like it matters, and a gratuity is a simple way to recognize great service.
